A New Year, A New You.

It's that time of year again. The end of the year. And that means people making empty promises to themselves, saying they're going to eat healthy! ...for all of three hours.

I don't make resolutions, but I give myself to-do lists. So here's mine for 2016.

Renée Shantel's 2016 To-Do List!

Finish at least one writing project: pretty self explanatory - for 2016, I just want to be able to finish one thing I'm working on. I don't care if it's something new, or a second draft, or even just plotting out a new story from start to finish. I just need to get something done!

Be healthier: no New Years' to-do list is complete without this one - I really want to start eating healthier and being more active. I didn't go to my dance classes nearly as much as I had wanted to this year (sometimes work got in the way, sometimes life, and sometimes it was just laziness), so I decided I want to take up jogging. It doesn't require a class, I can do it anywhere, and I can go at my own pace. The trick will just be getting started!

Spend less, save more: it's one of my aims in life to own my own house, and I'm already saving for this. I know I'll never be able to afford a place in Sydney, but I'm hoping I can afford something cheaper out of the city. But I have a long, long way to go before then. But with any luck, this year I'll make some progress with my saving.

Learn to play an instrument: I got my first guitar when I was fifteen - and never learned to play it! So this is the year that I learn. For a while I was leaning towards violin (I've always been drawn to guitar, violin, and piano), but guitars are the cheaper option - and in my house, with my brothers both players, they're readily available. Even so, I got myself a nice little new one:

I've already started on this part of my to-do list, and I've got the aching fingers to prove it!

What are your plans for 2016?
